Neighbourhood
This particular apartment is located in the east of Berlin in the bustling Friedrichshain neighbourhood. Within walking distance of both Waschauer Straße and Oestkreuz Stations, the connection to get around the city is simple and convenient. With Warschauer Straße and Ostkreuz Stations, you have a variety of U bahn (U1 and U3) and a large amount of different S bahn lines ( S3, S5, S8 and S9) including the Ringbahn (S41 and S42). It is also incredibly close the the Spree, so summertime walks down by the water to the East Side Gallery couldn’t be easier.
Friedrichshain itself is one of Berlin’s most artistic and vibrant regions. Containing a large number of former DDR (East German) relics, such as the boulevard Karl-Marx Allee named after the famous socialist, and the impressive Frankfurter Tor, it provides people with an incredibly nostalgic throwback to the times of cold war Berlin. Friedrichshain also has a bustling subculture of edgy bars and clubs, including one of the most famous clubs in Europe, Berghain. This interesting juxtaposition between modern hipster culture and old communist infrastructure lends to Friedrichshain being known as one of the most exciting districts in Berlin!
